left: The God of Thunder and a known pairing to Fujin. With a stick in each hand, he generates deafening waves of lightning each time he strikes the tomoe drums on his back, bringing about punishment/light upon evildoers to reaffirm a state of consciousness.

right: The God of Wind and one of the oldest Shinto gods. He is said to have been present at the inception of life. When he first let the winds out of his bag, they cleared the morning mists and opened the gate between Heaven and Earth. When he flies, his cloth flows through the sky producing shape-shifting air currents; when he blows, his breath brings about New Life to this world.

Both Raijin and Fujin were originally evil demons who opposed Buddha. They were captured by Buddha's Messengers of Heaven and have since worked as protective deities for the people.
